    Course Description

    This course aims at:

    • The ultimate purpose of this course is the Attainment of the Pleasure of Allah, by seeking the sacred knowledge of the religion, which will help the student worship Him according to His will. The topics dealt with in this course will be: The lives of the rightly-guided Caliphs, the main achievements done during their caliphates and refuting the doubts and allegations raised about them. Successful completion of this course should enhance the student’s understanding, not only of the lives of the rightly-guided caliphs, but also to get inspired by their piety and wisdom.
    • The course is designed to provide the student with evidence based knowledge, with a focus on proofs from the Qur’an, Sunnah and authentic sources of history to enable him to know about those great people and to distinguish between the acceptable and fabricated narrations about their history. The historical discussions will promote his understanding of different aspects of their lives before Islam, after conversion to Islam and their lives during their caliphates.
    • Enabling the student to understand our Aqeedah regarding the companions of the prophet (peace be upon him).
    • Enable the Student defend the Companions against all allegations from a logical perspective rather than one of blind faith.
    • Establish the evidence that Islam is fit for all places and times by learning how the rightly guided Khulafaa (Abu Bakr – Omar _ Otham – Ali ) implemented it after the death of the prophet peace be upon him.
    • Acquainting the student with the tools to transform the experience of the Companions in dealing with trial and tribulations into our own time.
    • Enabling the student to translate their academic studies of the history of the Khulafaa into practice through sincere and purified orientation towards the Hereafter.

    Course Outline:

    Part One: Why The Companions.

    1. The Companions are the security for my Ummah
    2. Defend their honor.
    3. They are the best role models for our youth.
    4. How they made the transformation.
    5. We do have Aqeedah (Belief System) regarding the companions which we have to practice.
    6. To establish the evidence that Islam is a religion for all times and all places.

    Part Two: Abu Bakr Al-Siddique.

    1. The early life of Abu Bakr As-Siddiqi before Islam.
    2. Abu Bakr’s life after conversion to Islam, his merits and his achievements for Islam before Caliphate
    3. Abu Bakr’s Caliphate and the incidents and the major achievements and events that took place during his Caliphate.

    Part Three: Omar Bin Al-Khatab.

    1. The early life of `Umar Ibnul-Khattab before Islam.
    2. `Umar’s life after conversion to Islam, his merits and his achievements for Islam before Caliphate
    3. `Umar’s Caliphate and the incidents and the major achievements and events that took place during his Caliphate.

    Part Four : Othman Bin Affan.

    1. The early life of `Uthman Ibn `Affan before Islam.
    2. `Uthman’s after life Islam, his merits and his achievements for Islam before Caliphate
    3. `Uthman’s Caliphate and the incidents and the major achievements and events that took place during his Caliphate.

    Part Five: Ali Bin Abi Talib.

    1. The early life of `Ali Ibn Abi Talib before Islam.
    2. `Ali’s life after conversion to Islam, his merits and his achievements for Islam before Caliphate
    3. `Ali’s Caliphate and the incidents and the major achievements and events that took place during his Caliphate.
