A. OBJECTIVE AND DESCRIPTION
• The ultimate purpose of this course is the Attainment of the Pleasure of Allah, by seeking the sacred knowledge of the religion, which will help the student worship Him according to His will.
• After the chapters on the Fiqh of Worship, most of the scholars addressed the Islamic laws guiding people’s interactions, starting with the financial transactions. This is because it is important for us after learning how we should treat our creator to learn how we should treat His creation. In this course, the student learns about selling and commercial transactions, usury, options in transactions, salam (advance payment sales), loans and debts, transference and guarantor-ship, and reconciliation.
• The course is designed to provide the student with evidence based knowledge, with a focus on proofs from the Qur’an and Sunnah, to enable him in relating to the sources of Islamic law and in developing respect and reverence for them. The juridical discussions will promote his understanding of the basis of various legal viewpoints.
• The Hanbali School of law (madhhab) will be the focal point of the study, with frequent and impartial references to the other schools. This will enable the student to get trained in one madhhab, while getting to learn about others, so that s/he may not have excessive zeal for one, or any contempt for any, of the accepted madhhabs of Ahl-us-Sunnnah.
