    Description Sources Lesson Overview
    • Teaching our students to read, write, and correctly pronounce the Arabic letters, and to differentiate between them. On route to that goal, the student will first be taught the common sounds that exist in both the Arabic and the other languages of the world, like the letters Seen (?), Dâl (?), Bâ’ (?), Lâm (?), Meem (?), and others. Thereafter, the student will learn to pronounce the sounds particular to the Arabic language, like the letters Dâd (?), Hâ’ (?), and Sâd (?), and others.
    • Supplying the students with many commonly used vocabulary words, as they are learning to pronounce in Arabic. It is preferred that words alluding to tangible items are taught first, and presented with illustrations to the students, and that translations are avoided as much as possible.  The benefit in this method lies in accustoming the learner’s ear to the Arabic language.
    • Familiarizing the basic principles of the Arabic language to them, such as the vowel sounds, the  shaddah (?), mu‘arraf versus nakirah, differentiating between verbs, masculine versus feminine, basic plurals – to keep things simple in this stage –, dhuroof (placeholders), damâ’ir (pronouns), and istifhâm (interrogatory tense).
    • Training them to read, writing, and constructing basic sentences in the Arabic language.
    • Teaching them to use the Arabic dictionary, and this is necessary to prepare them for Level 2, and to enable them to study independently, and to participate in the learning process.
